On October 23, 2017, DoIT Academic Technology’s precollege outreach initiative, Information Technology Academy (ITA), was featured in a Daily Cardinal article that focused on UW-Madison’s collaborative efforts to close opportunity gaps between white students and students of color.
Ron Jetty, assistant director of IT Pre-College Outreach and ITA executive director, was quoted in the article saying “The more diverse any particular campus is, the better off we all are.” He went on to say “This is a world focused university and we really need all cultures to be represented here.”
ITA provides academic support and technology courses to support students through high school and to prepare students for successful college admissions. If ITA students are accepted to and matriculate at UW-Madison, they become Scholars in the Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program (PEOPLE program), a continued academic support resources and diverse social network.
