
Information Technology Academy (ITA) senior Gaoza (Jennifer) Xiong won a QuestBridge scholarship, valued at more than $280,000 over four years. Jennifer has been accepted to attend Stanford University in fall 2018.
QuestBridge is a nonprofit that connects the nation’s high-achieving, low-income youth with leading colleges and opportunities. In QuestBridge’s 2017 National College Match, 15,606 students applied to be in the program, from which QuestBridge chose 5,759 finalists. On December 1, 2017, 918 Finalists matched with colleges, which means they were admitted early with a full, four-year scholarship that included tuition, room and board, and other expenses.
Jennifer is a senior at Madison East High School, where she participates in the Equity Leadership Council, Student Congress, Level Up Mentoring, National Honors Society, Link Crew, Purgolder Philanthropy club and the Anime Club. Jennifer also participates in ITA’s Student Council, Madison Metropolitan School District’s Student Advisory group and Madison All-City Honors Orchestra as the second chair cellist.
Through ITA, Jennifer completed paid internships as Digital Creativity Teacher Assistant Intern with the PEOPLE Program and as a DoIT Communications Intern. Beyond her many accolades, Jennifer is a known for her resilience, kindness and bringing her optimistic attitude to all she does. In college, Jennifer hopes to explore her academic interests in music, computer science and archaeology.
