Union South’s Varsity Hall was buzzing this morning with hundreds of staff members sharing and “stealing” great ideas at the poster session for the 17th Annual UW-Madison Showcase. Showcase is a platform for people across campus to share best practices and learn from each other in order to improve work processes, learning environments and the campus climate. Over 700 people registered this year and that included many familiar faces from DoIT Academic Technology!
Jeff Shokler, our partner from Undergraduate Advising, stopped by the MyUW-Madison Academic Application Development (MUMAA) booth about the Advising Gateway. Our MUMAA team members – Mike Farnham, Saikat Sengupta and Serge Margovsky – were on hand to celebrate over 20 iterations of the Gateway, share the newest features and explain the Scrum Methodology used for development. The project’s poster got a special call-out from Chancellor Blank during her keynote address. Get more details by reviewing the poster here.
At the booth for Information Technology Academy, Chris Kilgour shared this poster about the development of ITA’s Tribal Technology Institute and how he worked with campus partners and tribal leaders to develop the two new programs – ITA Oneida and ITA Lac du Flambeau.
In addition, many of our team members helped our partners present projects we collaborated on. That included Cid Freitag and Jan Cheetham highlighting the new Research Data Services website; Don Fleischman and Mark Neufeld sharing how our Video Production and Online Course Production services are helping develop the Scientific Narratives project with the Division of Continuing Studies; and Ron Cramer discussing the Wisconsin School of Business‘ KDBIN™ process for curriculum mapping, which he supports through his Strategic Learning Technology Consulting role.
