Application & recruitment process

Answer: Applicants that meet the eligibility criteria are highly encouraged to apply.

Answer: ITA has a single admission period: applications are accepted in January of 8th grade for Madison and in January of 9th grade for Lac Du Flambeau and Oneida.

Answer: Students are encouraged to apply to any and all programs that are of interest to them. If you are accepted to both ITA and PEOPLE, you will have to decide which program to participate in. You are not allowed to participate in both programs.

Answer: ITA program is a year-round program. Student will participate in learning during the academic year and will have summer camps. Please look at our Programs for more information : https://ita.it.wisc.edu/our-programs/

Answer: ITA offers a variety of courses to get students a breadth of knowledge. See course offerings:  https://ita.it.wisc.edu/our-programs/

Answer: Participation in ITA does not guarantee UW-Madison admission. Students who successfully complete ITA and have been directly admitted or admitted as transfer students to UW–Madison may be eligible for a four-year Wisconsin resident tuition scholarship through PEOPLE.

Answer: The PEOPLE College Scholars program works directly with ITA students admitted to UW-Madison or transferring from another institution. At that point ITA alumni become PEOPLE College Scholars. As a PEOPLE College Scholar, students work with an advisor who provides guidance as they work toward graduation and supports them to ensure their college experience enriches their lives intellectually, socially, personally and professionally.

Answer: Once you graduate ITA you will become a PEOPLE College Scholar. PEOPLE staff will contact you to welcome you and to discuss next steps, which include your attendance of the Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE) during the summer before your first semester at UW.

Answer: The Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE) is a high-impact, quality-learning, first-year experience for students entering the university. As PEOPLE Scholar you will participate in SCE, please take a look at the website link above to get more information.

Answer: Yes! As part of your PEOPLE Scholarship Requirements, you will need to successfully complete  Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE)

Answer: As an ITA alumni looking to transfer to UW, the PEOPLE Program offers great information and support for transfer students. Please check out their website to get access to transfer advising and more information on how to apply for transfer. ITA alumni who are admitted for transfer to UW-Madison may be eligible for the PEOPLE scholarship.
