This summer, the Information Technology Academy (ITA) students across various locations had a blast with an array of activities designed to engage, educate and entertain. The summer program was a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.
For 10th and 11th graders in Oneida and Lac du Flambeau (LDF), the summer activities included a mix of cultural and recreational events. The Ojibway games were a hit, offering a fun way to connect with tradition and heritage. The picnic added a perfect touch, allowing students to relax and bond over delicious food and good company. A visit to Camp Manitowish offered exciting outdoor adventures, and the basket-making sessions were a unique hands-on experience that connected students with traditional crafts.
In Madison, 9th, 10th and 11th graders had a summer full of diverse activities. The cybersecurity workshop provided valuable insights into online safety and the tech world. The ALPs ropes course was a fun experience that promoted teamwork and personal challenge. Picnic and outdoor games added a fun and social element, while technology choice workshops allowed students to explore various tech interests.
The 12th graders had a unique opportunity to experience college life through the Senior Residential Experience (SRE). This week-long stay on campus was packed with activities aimed at preparing students for their future academic journeys while having fun and getting to know and enjoy campus. SRE provided rising seniors with a dynamic curriculum including courses like “Identity Dialogues,” “Get Invested” and “College Prep.” Beyond the classroom, rising seniors had the opportunity to explore the wonders of Madison and beyond. From exploring the UW campus and its surrounding area, hiking the scenic trails of Devil’s Lake State Park and sailing with UW Hoofers, to a lively lip sync battle that showcased their talents, and a classic s’more-making session.
A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who organized these fantastic events and to the counselors who made the SRE an unforgettable experience. Your hard work and commitment to the students’ growth and enjoyment are deeply appreciated.
The summer of 2024 at ITA was a perfect blend of learning, culture and fun, leaving students with cherished memories and valuable experiences that will stay with them for years to come.
