Gabriel Saiz, a senior at West High School in Madison and student in Information Technology Academy’s Madison program, has been named one of the 12 Wisconsin semifinalists for the 2016 Presidential Scholars award. One female and male will be named finalists for Wisconsin and travel to Washington, D.C. to meet finalists from across the nation along with government officials, educators, authors, musicians, scientists and other accomplished individuals. Saiz’s accomplishment was highlighted in a recent Wisconsin State Journal article.
“What a nice distinction for a super student,” Ron Jetty, DoIT Academic Technology Assistant Director of IT Pre-College Outreach, notes. “We’re all cheering for him to earn a spot as a finalist before he heads off to Stanford University this fall.”
To earn this distinction, Saiz had to score high on the ACT or SAT college admissions test and submit an essay, self-assessment, secondary school reports and transcripts.
DoIT Academic Technology congratulates Gabriel and all ITA students on their hard work and dedication to pursuing the road to higher education!
